Synopsis

It is with special pleasure and sincere pride that we present the first collection of papers from the First Conference of Librarians of the University of Banja Luka, held on May 21st and 22nd at the Student Cultural Center of the University of Banja Luka.
This collection represents a lasting testimony to an important professional and academic meeting, but also the beginning of a new tradition of gathering librarians, scientists and cultural workers with the aim of exchanging knowledge, experiences and ideas about the future of the librarianship profession. The idea of organizing this conference arose from the desire, but also the real need, to gather in one place experts who view librarianship not only as a profession, but as an important part of cultural, educational and social life.
In a time of strong digitalization, when the role of libraries is increasingly being questioned, we believed it was necessary to create a space in which librarians would talk about the challenges of the profession, present good practices, and show that libraries still have an irreplaceable role in modern society.
