Synopsis

The monograph "Reading the Past" provides a comprehensive overview of the basic principles, techniques and methods used in archaeological research. Intended for students of archaeology and history, professionals in the field of cultural heritage, but also for all those interested in the mentioned field, the monograph describes in detail the steps from field preparation to analysis of finds. Special attention is paid to excavation planning, documentation and the application of modern technologies. Ethical aspects of archaeological work are also discussed, as well as the importance of cooperation with local communities. In addition to the theoretical part, it includes practical examples and case studies from various archaeological sites. It also covers specific methods for excavating different types of archaeological remains, such as tombs, settlements and ritual objects. It also contains detailed illustrations, diagrams and photographs that help visualize the process. The aim of the monograph is to provide readers with the necessary knowledge and skills for the successful conduct of archaeological excavations in accordance with the latest professional standards.

Author Biography

Ivana Pandžić, University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Philosophy

is an archaeologist and museum advisor at the Museum of the Republic of Srpska and assistant professor at the University of Banja Luka. She received her doctorate in Ljubljana, her master's degree in Belgrade, and her bachelor's degree in Athens. She is the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship for 2024/2025. She participated in numerous projects and excavations. He speaks Greek, English and German.
