Synopsis

The Practicum is written according to the curriculum of the Landscape Architecture course, which is offered as an elective course in the Architecture study programme - first cycle at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Banja Luka.
The Practicum consists of four chapters and is designed so that  it first presents the course objectives and learning outcomes, the course content, working methods, assessment criteria, and the format for submitting the semester project. This is followed by an overview of the fundamentals of landscape architecture, including the role of landscape architecture in spatial design, as well as the types, elements, and principles of designing landscape architectural structures. Special emphasis is placed on the landscape design process, including site analysis, the analysis of spatial planning documentation and programme, and the definition of the theme and objectives of the conceptual design. Furthermore, the Practicum addresses the development of a spatial and program concept and creating of graphic documentation for the conceptual landscape–architectural design. These graphic materials include drawings of the overall spatial scope and a characteristic segment, accompanied by catalogues of urban furniture and green structure. Instead of a conclusion, the Practicum provides an appendix explaining drawing techniques and graphic elements, along with a list of recommended literature.
The aim of this Practicum is to familiarize students with the basic organization of the course, the basics of landscape architecture, and the landscape design process, as well as to enable them to successfully master drawing techniques and graphic elements in order to produce the semester project – a conceptual landscape design.
