Synopsis

In the electronic edition of the book Step by Step Through My Environment, the authors follow the teaching content covered in the third grade of primary school within the subject My Environment. The concepts presented are accompanied by pictures and illustrations that allow the teaching material to be viewed from different perspectives. Tasks for students are presented in the form of steps towards creativity or critical thinking, and each beginning of the teaching content contains puzzles or keywords, as well as tasks to warm up the mind. As a means of motivation for learning, a dialogue between the boy Nikola and the girl Nikolina occasionally appears throughout the text.

Author Biographies

Tanja Stanković-Janković, University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Philosophy

Tanja (Veljko) Stanković-Janković (December 30, 1975, Banja Luka) graduated in 1999 from the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka, Department of Pedagogy, defending her thesis entitled Students’ Goals and Attitudes about School. She worked for a year at the „Borisav Stanković” Elementary School in Banja Luka. In 2000, she began working at the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka as an assistant (from 2000 to 2005). From 2005 to 2010, she was a senior assistant. After defending her master's thesis (Emotions and Emotional Education of Upper Elementary School Students), she was elected as an assistant professor (since 2010). After defending her doctoral dissertation (Learning to Learn and Emotions in Teaching), she was elected as an associate professor (since 2015), and since 2020 she has been a full professor in subjects from the narrow scientific field of Educational Methods.
She participated in numerous national and international projects, seminars, conferences and scientific meetings that dealt with various issues of educational work (student goals, emotional education, non-violent communication, methods and techniques of effective learning, prevention of peer violence and the like). She is the author of four books and several scientific and popular texts. She was the editor-in-chief of the journal Our School of the Pedagogical Society of the Republic of Srpska. She has been a long-time reviewer of pedagogical journals from the Republic of Srpska and the region.

Slaviša Jenjić, University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Philosophy

Slaviša (Vladan) Jenjić, born on April 9, 1972, in Prnjavor. He began his professional career in an elementary school in 1991, where he worked until 2010. During that period, he held positions as both a classroom teacher and the principal of the school.
He defended his doctoral dissertation in pedagogy at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka. Since 2010, he has been employed at the Faculty of Philosophy in Banja Luka, where he has successively been elected to the academic ranks of Senior Teaching Assistant, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor, within the narrower scientific field of Methodology of Primary Education. He teaches courses such as Methodology of Teaching in Multi-Grade Classes, Methodology of Initial Mathematics Teaching, Methodology of Teaching Nature and Society, and related subjects at the first, second, and third cycles of study. He is the author or co-author of two scientific monographs, one university textbook, and more than fifty scientific and professional papers. He has participated in numerous national and international scientific conferences and projects. He currently serves as the President of the Association of Pedagogues of the Republic of Srpska.

Snježana Kević-Zrnić, University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Philosophy

Snježana Kević-Zrnić was born on 01.11.1980 in Banja Luka (BiH), where she completed primary and secondary school. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Pedagogy, in June 2005 (thesis on the topic: Pedagogical Efficiency of Nonverbal Communication). In October 2006, she started volunteering at the “Petar Kočić” school in Nova Topola, where she worked until June 2008. She then worked for nine months at the Secondary School Dormitory in Banja Luka. With the desire to continue her education, she enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Philosophy (Study Program Pedagogy), University of Banja Luka. She defended her master's thesis entitled Learning Planning and Techniques of Successful Learning on December 13, 2013, and earned the title of Master of Pedagogical Sciences. Soon after, she began to become intensely interested in and study relevant literature in the field of achievement motivation and school success.
This resulted in the formulation of the topic of her doctoral dissertation The Impact of Applying Learning Methods on Students' Achievement Motivation and Their Evaluation of Teaching. She also showed her interest in issues of educational theory and practice in other research, as evidenced by works published independently and in co-authorship.
She participated in projects as a researcher and workshop leader at seminars, symposiums and scientific meetings that dealt with various issues of educational work. As a member of the project team, she participated in the implementation of the scientific. She is employed at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Banja Luka.
