Synopsis

The book addresses the situation, phenomena and events of a political, social and economic nature in the area of the Bosnian Eyalet and chronologically covers the period from the Peace of Belgrade (1739) to the beginning of the Dubica War (1788). This is a time that marked almost half a century of peace in the area of the Bosnian Eyalet. The introductory chapter provides a concise overview of the situation in the Bosnian Eyalet, from the Ottoman conquest to the end of the 18th century, followed by a brief review of the history of the Ottoman Empire in the aforementioned century. Political history is represented through a separate segment of the book that, within a given time frame, talks about the participation of the army from the Bosnian Eyalet on the battlefields. Insight into socio-economic relations is provided by chapters on the timar-spahi system in the 18th century, political and social uprisings, demographic changes, and the development of the city's economy. A special chapter of the book also pays attention to religious circumstances in the Bosnian Eyalet.

The significance of the book lies in the fact that until now there has been no monograph in Serbian historiography that deals with historical circumstances in the Bosnian Eyalet in the period from 1739 to 1788.
