Synopsis

The manuscript is organized into eight chapters: Introduction, Etiology of Early Childhood Caries, Developmental Periods and Psychological Types of Toddlers and Preschool Children, Behavior Management and Control of the Child in the Dental Office, Prevention and Prophylaxis of Early Childhood Caries, Diagnosis of Early Childhood Caries, Early Intervention – Therapy of Incipient Carious Lesions, and Restorative Approach in the Therapy of Early Childhood Caries; it also includes a table of contents, a list of references, and a list of abbreviations. Across the eight chapters, data from independent research work are presented, alongside the experiences and achievements of leading researchers in this field. The introductory chapter defines the concept of early childhood caries and presents current epidemiological data. The second chapter brings the latest insights into complex etiological and risk factors. The next two chapters address the behavioral aspect of early childhood caries. The chapter on prevention deals with modern approaches and scientifically proven measures in disease prevention. The sixth chapter presents diagnostic methods and their application in primary dentition. The seventh chapter highlights the importance of early intervention and therapy of incipient carious lesions of ECC. The restorative aspect deals with the application of current materials and restorative techniques.
