Proceedings of the 3rd International Scientific Conference “Contemporary Security Challenges and Threats”, Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 6 March 2023.

The international scientific conference titled “Contemporary Security Challenges and Threats”, organized by the Faculty of Security Sciences of the University of Banja Luka, held for the third time, marked the sixth anniversary of this youngest member of the Banja Luka University. It demonstrated that each successive conference is richer and more substantial compared to the previous one. This is evident from the number of submitted scientific papers (16 in the previous year and 38 this year), the number of authors and co-authors, as well as the countries from which the authors come. The conference brought together presenters from seven countries (Russia, Slovenia, Saudi Arabia, Hungary, North Macedonia, Serbia, and the Republic of Srpska), who delivered their presentations in Serbian, Russian, and Macedonian.

A wide range of topics was covered: police decision-making, police control, community policing, the impact of digitalization on security, civil protection mechanisms and European security, the impact of future social and technological trends on civil protection, modeling of civil protection systems, the work of crime prevention policy actors, contemporary threats to national security and protection of critical healthcare infrastructure, color revolutions, as well as issues related to physical preparedness and physical condition of members of security services.

Due to the large number of scientific papers, the work was organized into three sessions, although Russian authors as well as authors from North Macedonia presented online. The conference was held on the day the Faculty of Security Sciences was founded – 6 March – and was conceived as a working continuation of the official ceremony attended by numerous distinguished guests from both domestic and international institutions.
