Proceedings of the 5th International Scientific Conference “Contemporary Security Challenges and Threats”, Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 27 March 2025.

The international scientific conference titled “Contemporary Security Challenges and Threats”, organized by the Faculty of Security Sciences of the University of Banja Luka, held for the fifth time, has shown—based on experience from previous years—that each successive conference is larger and richer in content compared to the previous one. This is reflected in the number of submitted scientific papers (55 this year), the number of authors and co-authors, as well as the diversity of countries from which the authors come.

The conference brought together presenters from six countries (Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina), who delivered their presentations in Serbian, Russian, and English.

A wide range of topics was covered: civil protection mechanisms and European security, contemporary threats to national security, terrorism, critical infrastructure protection, cyber threats and artificial intelligence in security, police affairs, police decision-making, police control, police work in the field, risk management of modern weapons, criminalistics and forensic topics, as well as issues related to physical preparedness and physical condition of members of security services.

Due to the large number of scientific papers and presenters, the work was organized into two sessions. Presenters delivered their papers orally, while others had the opportunity to present their topics via an online platform. The conference was held on 27 March, in the same month when the Faculty of Security Sciences, as the youngest member of the University of Banja Luka, celebrated its eighth anniversary.
