Proceedings of the 6th International Scientific Conference “Contemporary Security Challenges and Threats”, Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 27 March 2026.

The International Scientific Conference entitled “Contemporary Security Challenges and Threats”, organized by the Faculty of Security Sciences of the University of Banja Luka, was held for the sixth time. Building on the experience gained in previous years, the conference once again demonstrated that each successive gathering has become larger and richer in content than the last. This was reflected in the number of submitted scientific papers (52 this year), the growing number of authors and co-authors, as well as the diversity of countries represented by the participants.

The conference brought together presenters from nine countries (Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina), who delivered their presentations in Serbian, Russian, and English.

A wide range of topics was addressed, including civil protection mechanisms and European security, contemporary threats to national security, terrorism, critical infrastructure protection, cyber threats and artificial intelligence in security, police affairs, police decision-making, police oversight, community policing, risk management related to modern weapon systems, criminalistics and forensic science, as well as issues concerning the physical preparedness and fitness status of members of security services.

Due to the large number of scientific papers and presenters, the conference was organized into two parallel sessions. Participants attending in person delivered their presentations orally, while others had the opportunity to present their topics via an online platform.

The conference was held on 27 March, in the same month in which the Faculty of Security Sciences, the youngest member of the University of Banja Luka, celebrated its ninth anniversary.
