The monograph "Security Systems and the Issue of Control" is intended for students of the Faculty of Security Sciences, as well as for all interested experts and researchers involved in the study of modern security systems and their control mechanisms.
The author first defines the concept of security in detail, followed by the security system itself, analyzing its core characteristics, specifics, and key control entities. Special attention is given to international best practices through the analysis of experiences and achievements in European Union countries - the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Federal Republic of Germany, and the French Republic - focusing on their political systems, police, intelligence, and defense systems, and their control. The central part of the monograph focuses on the security system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, evaluating their responsibilities and control mechanisms through a detailed analysis of competent institutions, including the Ministry of Security of BiH, police agencies, the Armed Forces of BiH, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), and the Intelligence-Security Agency (OSA). Furthermore, the monograph addresses specific subsystems, such as private security and civil protection services. Finally, special analysis is dedicated to the issue of security system oversight by the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of power, alongside the supervisory role of civil society, thus completing the evaluation of democratic oversight over the entire security architecture. By providing students and the expert public with essential theoretical knowledge for understanding complex security conditions, the monograph makes a significant scientific contribution to this field and serves as core literature for its study.
The monograph provides students with the essential theoretical knowledge required to understand the operation and control of security systems, serving as core literature for the course "Security Systems."
